The Catholic Foundation of Southwest Iowa has named Sue McEntee as its new Executive Director effective September 16.

"We are delighted to have someone with Sue's background and experience join us in leading our pursuit of creating the premier Catholic diocesan foundation in the country,” said Dennis Purdum, Vice Chairman of the foundation. “Sue's commitment to philanthropy and her faith is unsurpassed.”

In her most recent role, McEntee led WesleyLife Retirement Service as their Director of Philanthropy. Through this position, she was responsible for all aspects of fund development statewide for eight senior living communities, public health nursing, Meals on Wheels, and hospice. In another role, McEntee served as the Assistant to the President for Advancement at Drake University. In addition, her former positions have provided her with great experience in the non-profit industry, including development of professional, organizational, and project management skills.

Most notably, McEntee previously served at Sacred Heart Parish in West Des Moines as Development Director and Construction Manager. In this role, she managed a capital campaign, worked closely with and guided a volunteer committee on the oversight of the renovation and construction of the school and church, and directed and oversaw all aspects of the annual stewardship campaign.

“Joining the Des Moines Diocese in this role for the Catholic Foundation of Southwest Iowa is very exciting,” said McEntee. “I have been blessed to enjoy wonderful, very diverse professional opportunities. I look forward to building on the great work of Chris McCarville, Brooke Pulliam, and the Board of Directors to use those opportunities to assist our Des Moines Diocesan parishes and Catholic organizations in ways to strengthen and support them.”

McEntee gained her Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Northern Iowa, and received her Master’s Degree with Honors in Public Administration from Drake University.

McEntee succeeds Chris McCarville, who served for three years as the Executive Director of the foundation. Chris McCarville recently accepted the position of President of Xavier High School in Cedar Rapids, IA.
