The Catholic Foundation of Southwest Iowa (CFSWIA) is launching into its seventh fiscal year with a board of directors serving as its springboard. The board is tasked with leading the CFSWIA in assisting parishes, schools and Catholic organization across the 23-county Diocese of Des Moines as the entities seek to secure long-term financial support. The board is made of up of five corporate members and twelve at-large members. Board members can serve three, three-year terms for a total of nine years of service.
The newest members of the board, beginning their first term of service, are Don Coffin and Christine Long. Coffin is the CEO and President of Bankers Trust and an active parishioner at Sacred Heart in West Des Moines. Long is an Attorney and Shareholder at Bradshaw, Folwer, Proctor & Fairgrave, P.C. and a parishioner at St. Theresa in Des Moines.
Board members re-upping for their second term include Tim Dunbar, Connor Flynn and Jim Wallace. Dunbar is the Executive Vice President and Chief Investment Officer of Principal Financial Group while a parishioner at Sacred Heart in West Des Moines. Flynn is Chairman of Lessing-Flynn Advertising Co. and a long-time member of St. Augustin in Des Moines. Wallace is also a parishioner at St. Augustin in Des Moines and retired from his role as Chairman & CEO of GuideOne Insurance.
Beginning his third and last term with the Catholic Foundation of Southwest Iowa is Monsignor Ed Hurley. Monsignor Hurley is retired after serving 47 years in varying clergy positions within the Diocese of Des Moines. He currently serves as the diocese’s Vicar for Finance.
