PURPOSE OF THE FUND: provides funds for Spanish resources, training for Spanish Religious Education teachers, outreach events to help integrate Hispanic residents into the community, and assistance to parishes that have not traditionally ministered to Spanish speaking parishioners.
The Hispanic population in Iowa has dramatically increased in the last decade, with Polk County leading the state. This demographic shift, the growth in Spanish Masses as well as the creation of minority ministries and the Hispanic Commission have resulted in a need for increased outreach efforts to help integrate new Iowans into their communities.
